Dharwad: Students held for spreading false information

Dharwad, Mar 27: The police arrested two persons for spreading fake information. They have been accused of adding the photo of a healthy youth along with that of a person from Hosayallapur village who was confirmed coronavirus positive, and then spreading false information through social websites that the second person also was infected with this disease.

On March 22, the deputy commissioner of the district had written to the city police commissioner here seeking to act against people who were behind this falsehood. Cybercrime police who took up the matter, found that two students were involved in this mischief.

Two separate cases, one in town station and the other in Vidyagiri station, were filed against the two. Both stand arrested.
