Mangaluru, Mar 27: "People in home quarantine, and the current situation in neighbouring Kasargod district are the two major challenges the health department faces in bringing coronavirus situation in Dakshina Kannada district under complete control. Everyone should be aware of this situation and seriously make efforts to root out this disease," said newly appointed district health officer of Dakshina Kannada district, Dr Ramachandra Bairy.

He noted when speaking to a Kannada daily that in Kasargod district, coronavirus cases are increasing with each passing day. He said all including officials, doctors and voluntary organisations should get involved with the task earnestly and that if the situation goes out of hand, blaming the people's representatives and officials will not be of any help.

He said that if the people neglect to obey lockdown norms, they will face hard days ahead. As major cities are locked down, supply of items gets diminished with passage of time. For want of workers, industries cannot produce and transportation sector is hard hit. Therefore, people have to fully cooperate with the government if they want an early end to the lockdown period.
