Udupi: Yaseen Malpe requests devotees not to pray in mosques

Udupi, Mar 27: Udupi District Muslim Union president Muhammed Yaseen Malpe, urged the mosque managements in the district not to allow people to come together at the mosques whether there is Jumma Namaz or otherwise in the mosques. He said that this will apply to all the Jummas till April 15.

He asked the people to temporarily overlook Muslim educational and religious principles. "Either the Imam of the mosques and staff can alone offer prayers at the mosques with cryptic Khutpa and the Jamaats can perform Uhr Naaz at their homes," he said.

He said that the Muslims of the district have taken this unanimous stand after mutual consultation. He added that towards helping the government to stop coronavirus, Muslims stay committed to Islamic education during these adverse circumstances. He felt that the people, at this time of confusion and adversities relating to Jumma Namaz, people have to follow health demands, directions of the government and suggestions of Ulemas. He requested the Muslims of the district and particularly those managing the mosques to abide by this decision.
