Mangaluru: Homebound man hits tree, dies

Mangaluru, Mar 27: A young man who was on his way to his hometown, Haleangady in the taluk from Bengaluru by his motorbike, lost his life after his vehicle dashed a roadside tree. The accident happened at Padil here on Wednesday March 25.

The victim of the accident was Shivaram (26), son of Shekhar, residing near Lord Chandramouleshwara temple in Chelairu village. His sister, Ramya, who was travelling in the pillion, survived with injuries. She was admitted into a hospital for treatment.

Shivaram, along with five of his friends on different motorbikes, had begun the journey from Bengaluru towards Haleangady on Wednesday morning. When they were near Padil, Shivaram's vehicle hit a tree as a result of which he was wounded in the chest. He was taken to a private hospital in the city but the treatments failed to save him, it is gathered.

Shivaram is survived by parents, a brother and a sister. He was an active volunteer of Hindustani Youth Club, Chelairu, and had involved with various social service initiatives. He used to pool donations for the organization with the help of friends at Bengaluru and always encouraged social service activities of the club, said the president of the club, Vinod S Salian.
