Udupi, Mar 27: Police personnel attached to Gangolli police station took into custody three men who were travelling in a car and ignored police signal to stop their vehicle.

The three men are identified as car driver Shekar Poojary (35) resident of Uppunda village, Byndoor; Janardhan (26), resident of Heranjalu village, Byndoor and Prabhaker (32), resident of Heranjalu village, Byndoor.

Gangolli police station sub inspector Bheemashanker P was inspecting vehicles at Trasi junction on Friday, March 27, at 1 pm to implement government’s lock down orders dated March 24 to prevent spread of coronavirus. Meanwhile car No. KA-20-MC-9080 approached from Gangolli towards Byndoor.

The police personnel asked the car inmates to stop the car but those in the car did not give suitable explanation for driving the car on public road despite government orders. As the car proceeded further defying police orders and it was possible that they could have spread the virus, the three men were taken into police custody. A police case under registration number 35/2020 IPC sections 269, 270 and 34 are registered against them.
