Udupi, Dec 2: “Everyone is bound to perform certain duties, cast upon them by virtue of various parameters. For the ascetics, their duty is to get engaged in propagation of spirituality and religion. They should be always conscious that they own nothing, temples are public organizations and they should always shun misuse of powers and be ‘trustees’ in its true sense, without being ‘thirsty’. Honestly doing one’s duties happens to be the true worship of the Lord,” said Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt here. He was delivering benedictory address at a programme organized at Vidyodaya Public School premises here on  Tuesday December 1, on the occasion of his completion of 71 years in the religious order.

On the occasion, he felicitated 14 achievers from different fields, by handing over to them cash component, citation and draping shawls around them. He also extended financial assistance to poor patients. His junior, Sri Vishwaprasannateertha Swamiji was present.

“Honest discharge of duties is a must for everyone, right from a farmer and merchant, to politicians. Sri Madhwacharya too had said that serving the people is mandatory for people seeking liberation. This is a kind of tax we pay to the Lord,” he explained.

Herga Srinivas Tantry, A Varadaj Ballal Kediyoor, Vishwambhar Upadhyaya Kumbhasi, P Rabindra Nayak Udupi, Balkur Subraya Adiga, T V Rao Ambalpady, K N Tailor Mangalore, Arate Manjunath Hallady, Prof M Ramachandra Karkala, Ullal Mohan Kumar, Prof M L Samaga Malpe, Korgi Venkatesh Upadhyaya Kateel, Padyana Ganapati Bhat and Madhur Balasubrahmanya were felicitated on the occasion by the Swamiji.
