Kasargod, Apr 1: After the lockdown was enforced, the vigil was kept on the roads and border roads were sealed, there has been a considerable decline in crime rate, authorities say. It is learnt that from March 23 onward, the police stations have not been receiving complaints of nature they usually encountered on a day-to-day basis before that day. The cases that are now being registered pertain to violation of lockdown order.

On March 21, when the lockdown began, cases other than lockdown violation were registered in only three out of 19 police stations in the district. One case each was registered in Kasargod, Rajapuram and Adoor stations. This is far less as compared to one or more than one cases all the police stations used to receive daily in the past.

In the past, Kasargod, Kumble, Manjeshwar and Hosdurg stations used to get many cases. One reason may be the decline in accident cases as vehicles are not being driven on the roads and the other could be close watch maintained by the policemen and check posts at the border.
