Udupi: Lightning Fatally Strikes Manoj Mendonca (27) of Mudarangady

Udupi, Dec 3: Heavy rains, lightning, and thunder caught the residents of the coastal districts unawares on Thursday December 3.

Our correspondent from Shirva Wilson D'Souza reports that around 7.30 pm on Thursday, young businessman Manoj Roshan Mendonca (27) from Mudarangady, died after heavy lightning hit his house while he was taking a bath.

Manoj is the son of Benedict and Irene Mendonca of Bantuolji.

More details on the tragedy are awaited. The body of Manoj has been taken to a hospital in Udupi.

    A very shocking and sad news. I cannot believe this. Manu was such a godfearing, helpful and kind boy. I remember how he has helped us when my mother had a knee replacement surgery in Bangalore in May, 2008. He had donated his blood for her. Even though he was very busy he used to visit her in the hospital and was a great source of moral support for her. My mother and all of us are deeply saddened with this news. May god give strength to his parents and sisters to bear this loss. No words can lighten their grief. WE WILL ALWAYS MISS YOU MANU.
