Mangalore, Dec 4: “Teachers and parents play a very prominent role in the lives of the students. Especially at the pre-university level, the students are in their adolescence, the age when they tend to develop, both physically and mentally. Parents therefore, should take keen interest and guide their children towards achieving a complete personality development,” advised Fr Joseph Rodrigues, rector of St Aloysius College, speaking after participating in the annual day celebrations of Padua Composite Pre-university college in the city, held in the college premises recently.

He hailed Padua PU College for encouraging the students and working its best for achieving the overall development of students. “The PU College has come as a boon for the economically backward students,” he observed.

Fr Peter S Noronha, correspondent of Padua Institutions, who presided over the function, said that Padua PU College has been successful in fulfilling the expectations of the parents, and that the principal and lecturers have been able to identify the shortcomings of the students and helping them to meet their needs.

Padua High School headmaster, Francis D’Souza, headmistress of Padua Primary School, Florie Crasto, president of Padua Alumni Association, Henry D’Souza, and Eric Patrao were present at the dais.

Fr Michael Santhumayor welcomed. Gladys Aloysius, senior lecturer of the college, presented the annual report. Sanjana proposed vote of thanks. Joseph Alvares, Allien D’Souza and Liston Pinto compered the programme. Various cultural events were staged later by the students of the college and the Padua alumni students.
