Stay put in place of work: PMK to workers in other states

Chennai, Apr 3 (IANS): Condoling the demise of Lokesh Balasubramani, a Tamil youth who collapsed and died on Thursday while attempting to walk to his hometown in Namakkal from Nagpur, PMK founder S. Ramadoss urged workers to stay put in their places of work.

Twenty one-year-old Balasubramani and his friend working in Nagpur had decided to go to their hometown Namakkal in Tamil Nadu owing to the nationwide lockdown.

While at a community centre in Secunderabad Balasubramani felt unwell and later collapsed and died.

Ramadoss said it is safe for people outside their home state to remain where they are during the lockdown period.

"The respective state governments should provide food and shelter to those people," Ramadoss said.

He said steps have been taken to provide food to Tamil workers in Maharashtra.
