Mangalore: Sporadic Rainfall, Lightning at Several Places in Coast

Mangalore, Dec 5: Several places in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts received rains coupled with thunder and lightning during the late afternoon hours on Friday December 4.

Places like Subrahmanya, Beltangady, Puttur, Vittal and Sullia in Dakshina Kannada district, and Karkala, Hebri, Ajekar etc., in Udupi district, got good rains. Almost all the other places in the twin-districts including the city, experienced cloudy weather.

The meteorological department has predicted rains in most of the places of the coast during next 24 hours. The untimely rains have worried the farmers, as the black gram plantlets in their fields have flowered, and rains are causing the flowers to be shed.
