Mysore: Now, Postal Course in Kannada for Public

Mysore, Dec 9: The 12-month postal course in Kannada being conducted for all State government employees from November 1, 1985 jointly by the Department of Kannada and Culture and Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, for the benefit of those not knowing Kannada has now been extended to public also.

The following terms and conditions:

1. Persons enrolling should have passed SSLC.

2. The applicants should be in the age group of 18 to 50 years.

3. At the time of registering their names for the course, the applicants should produce either the marks card or the records relating to qualifying educational qualifications.

Course content includes learning the (a) vocabulary, (b) conversation, (c) reading and practice of grasping the subject and (d) Kannada in administration.

Candidate taking the course are required to become conversant in all the four divisions and write the exams.

For a pass in the exams, the candidates should answer questions in reading-writing for 100 marks (based an study material), construction of sentences in Kannada (multiple-choice questions of 100 marks), administrative Kannada (100 marks) and translation (50 marks).

The above course is considered equivalent to the Kannada examination conducted by Karnataka Public Service Commission. Public desirous of enrolling themselves in the course should remit Rs. 250 by DD drawn in favour of the Director, Central Institute of Indian Languages, Manasagangotri, Mysore.

The 24th course is scheduled to start on January 1, 2010. Relevant application forms may be obtained by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope for Rs. 5 addressed to Officer-in-charge, Postal Tuition in Kannada, Central Institute of Indian Languages, Manasagangotri, Mysore- 570 006.

Filled application forms should reach the Officer in-charge before Dec. 31, 2009, according to a press release from Assistant Director, Department of Kannada and Culture.
