Vittal, Dec 9: The annual feast of Our Lady of Fatima parish, Peruvai, was held on Wednesday December 9.  
The feast this year was themed so as to promote the parish community by the grace of Mother Mary.

Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore diocese was accorded a grand welcome at the newly-built welcome arch at 10.00 am on Wednesday.  The Bishop also inaugurated and blessed the new welcome arch at the church entrance.































Bishop D’Souza offered the festal Eucharistic Mass at 10.30 am on Wednesday alongwith Our Lady of Fatima parish priest Fr Andrew D’Costa, former parish priest Fr Alexander Noronha, Puttur deanery vicar and Puttur Mary Mother of God parish priest Fr Gerald D’Souza, Fr Vincent Lobo, Fr Ritesh Rodrigues, and other clergy from neighbouring parishes.  A large number of faithful attended the Holy Mass.

The Bishop, in his homily, called on the faithful to build a vibrant small community at the ward level in the parish. 

The donors of the welcome arch were also honoured after the Holy Mass.

Former youth Congress president Bondala Jagannath Shetty was also felicitated on the occasion.

Our Lady of Fatima parish, Pervai, was set up 13 years ago. Prior to this, the parishioners depended on Our Lady of Dolours, Vittal, for their spiritual needs.  

Pervai parish has 127 families of which many make a living from their farmlands while others work in the Gulf.
