Mangalore: Mining Scam – Poojary Seeks Impartial Investigation

Mangalore, Dec 10: Former union minister, B Janardhan Poojary, has demanded for an impartial investigation into the complaints of illegal mining activities in the state.

Speaking to reporters in the city on Wednesday December 9, he criticized the state government for not acting upon two reports, one each submitted by the Lokayukta and the Supreme Court committee. “Even after the court ordered for a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry, the Chief Minister is dithering in the matter. There have been attempts to conceal evidences, and the CM appears to be hand in glove in these efforts,” Poojary added.

He said, that the CM’s insistence that no illegal mining is going in the state is illegal, as in fact, illegal mining has been noticed in several pockets. Yeddyurappa is trying to misguide the investigation process by claiming that the mining activities going on in the state are within legal parametres, at a time when the Supreme Court is verifying about the illegal mining activities in the state,” he criticized.
