Bangalore: SP’s Death Not Related to Transfer – Home Minister

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Dec 10: State home minister, Dr V S Acharya, sought to allay the notion that the death of the superintendent of police, B K Naseer Ahmed, belonging to Karnataka State Police Service cadre, was not caused by his transfer blues.

It may be recalled that the police officer had suffered massive heart attack while waiting for his transfer issue to be sorted out. The minister however, termed the death of Ahmed as an unfortunate incident.

Naseer Ahmed, had been transferred to Home Guards on November 17 from his parent department, Criminal Investigation Department, but the DGP of fire and emergency services department had not allowed him to report for duty. When the home minister was questioned about this incident, he said that the DGP wanted only an IPS cadre officer for her department, and as Naseer was from the state cadre, his posting there was not acceptable to her.

“After learning about this problem, we had made preparations to retransfer the officer to his earlier department. But in the meanwhile, he died,” he added.
