Mangalore: CM Agrees to Pump 100 Crore Rupees into City

Mangalore, Dec 12: It is reported that Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar, MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC, Capt Ganesh Karnik and chairman of Coastal Development Authority, B Nagaraj Shetty, were able to convince the state Chief Minister (CM), Yeddyurappa, to sanction an additional grant of Rs 100 crore for the development projects of the city. They met the CM at the Vishwa Tulu Sammelan being held at Ujire in the district.

The CM expressed his appreciation for the speedy progress of various developments works undertaken in the city. Out of the new grant, Rs 25 crore is proposed to be used for asphalting the internal roads, Rs 25 crore for the proposed fly over at Hampankatta Circle, Rs 10 crore for developing the Central Market, Rs 10 crore for developing Kadri and Tagore Parks, while Rs 25 crore will be utilized for erecting foot paths and drainages.

The CM has directed the City Corporation commissioner, Dr Vijayaprakash, and deputy commissioner, V Ponnuraj, to submit an action plan soon in this respect, said MLA, N Yogish Bhat, addressing a press conference in the city on Friday December 11.

“The main roads are already being concreted. The inner roads which are in a neglected state, need to be developed now. The sum that will come now, will be used for developing footpaths, parks, Central Market, etc.,” he explained.  The grant is promised to be provided in the next budget, he revealed.

District BJP president, Monappa Bhandary, vice-president, Nitin Kumar, city unit president, Satish Prabhu, and others were present.

    More important than parks the inner roads all over need to be redone immmdiatly .The development of parks can wait .The available sanctioned funds must be used for good roads.The development of parks can be funded by MNC'S .
