Ballari: Three workers drown in river when swimming

Ballari, Apr 18: In a tragic incident which happened in Sovenahalli village of Hoovina Hadagali taluk in the district, three workers who went into the river for swimming to spend holidays on account of lockdown, drowned.

These three had entered River Tungabhadra that flows near Sovenahalli village, on Friday afternoon. They were swept away by the force of water. Five friends had gone there to to swim together but three drowned. Two others escaped unhurt.

The deceased were Kogali Maruthi (23) from Sovenahalli, MallinakerSuresh (25) and P Fakruddin (25) from Hampasagara village. Mallinakere Suresh was a daily wage worker of Jindal steel factory while the other two victims were coolies. Hadagali police have assigned the task of finding the bodies to expert divers. A case of unnatural death was registered in Hoovina Hadagali police station.
