Mangaluru: Anti Tollgate Committee criticizes collection of fee

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 21: Convener of the Committee for the fight against Suratkal tollgate Muneer Katipalla, has criticized the government for resuming toll collection even as lockdown has been extended without allowing any concession. He said that duly misusing this opportunity, the officials at Suratkal tollgate have begun to collect toll charges from the vehicles. He asked the district administration to immediately stop the collection of toll charges at this gate.

"Allowing toll plazas to function when only vehicles carrying essential goods and emergency services are moving, is wrong. We have already filed an oral complaint with the district administration and asked it to maintain the status quo. If the toll contractors continue to fleece the vehicle owners, we will break the lockdown rules and carry on with protest plan," Katipalla stated in a release.
