Madikeri, Apr 28: In an incident which happened at Bettadakadu, Nelyahudikeri in the taluk, a man reportedly accosted a girl by pulling at her hands when she was returning home. He also is said to have tried to rape her.
Siddapur police have registered the case and booked the accused under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Deepak had, a few months back, been arrested for trying to abduct a minor student. He had secured bail in that case. Now he has been arrested in rape attempt case.
In the meantime, the accused filed a complaint with the police claiming that three young men from the village had assaulted and tried to kill him. On the basis of this complaint, three persons, Jabir, Basheer and Najeeb from Bettadakadu, have been arrested. Siddapur station house officer Mohanraj is investigating in the matter.
