Bengaluru, Apr 30: Reportedly, state director general of police (DGP) Praveen Sood, has issued orders not to deploy police personnel aged above 55 for duties related to COVID-19 infection.
Sood noted that the COVID-19 infection is specifically harsh on aged people and those who have a history of diseases. "Our duty is to protect the health of our staff. Therefore, people aged above 55 should not be given duty on roads and check posts for coronavirus-related work," he said.
The DGP also said that people who suffer from health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, kidney, liver-related complications, and heart-related ailments should not be posted for duties on the road in the interest of their health condition. They should be given duties within the police station or in safe spots, he stated.
