Bangalore: Minister Muniyappa Shows Krishna Byregowda His Place

Bangalore, Dec 30: Under no mood to take the comments of MLA Krishna Byregowda, who also happens to be the president of Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress, lying down, union minister of state for railways, K H Muniyappa, hit back at the former.

Byatarayanapura MLA, Krishna Byregowda, had said that he would complain to the Congress high command over the fact that Muniyappa had visited the railway over bridge work within his constituency, without giving any information to him. Expressing anger, Muniyappa said in a press conference held on Tuesday December 29, that Krishna Byregowda had seen Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi only in the recent past. “I have been in touch with the party high command since the times of Indira Gandhi. I have no objection to his complaining to All India Congress Committee. There is no problem at all,” he retorted.

He clarified that he had not visited the said site for either inauguration or laying the foundation stone. “The protocol does not stipulate that the local legislators should be invited at the time of spot inspection. Still, I had called Byregowda over phone to invite him for the same. He should make use of the opportunities provided to him. Instigating others on petty things is not a leadership quality,” he added.

Muniyappa said that he has already apprised state Congress president, R V Deshpande, and working president, D K Shivakumar, about the episode. “I am confident that they will take steps against the guilty,” he clarified.
