Hassan: Two including soldier drown in backwaters when swimming

Hassan, May 2: Two persons including a soldier drowned when swimming in the backwaters of Hemavathi dam. The incident happened at Kattepura near Mallipatna in Arkalgud taluk of Hassan district on Friday May 1.

Lokesh (28), son of Nanjappa from Arkalgud, who was serving as a soldier, and Latish, son of Shantaraju from Niluvagilu in Besur lost their lives in this tragic incident. Lokesh had visited Besur, after which he and Latish had left to swim in Hemavathi backwaters. Both drowned on this occasion.

Both the bodies were recovered after an effort lasting some hours with the coming together of forest department, police department and members of the public.
