Mangaluru: SDPI alleges irregularities in issuance of COVID-19 passes

Mangaluru, May 5: In a statement, SDPI Mangalore (south) assembly constituency president Suhail Khan said, that the mistakes of working in favour of the BJP because of the district administration's own administrative failures and BJP's political pressure are getting repeated. He then stated that the issuance of over 40,000 passes illegally is proof of this fact.

"To maintain social distance and to deliver food items to the people through an honest effort, several volunteers and organizations had applied for passes but the district administration was dithering in the matter. But the administration has now issued over 40,000 passes," he noted and demanded details of the people to whom these passes have been issued.

"Prima facie Madan Mohan, assistant commissioner here, has issued copious passes to people connected with the BJP. Like in the case of the issuance of passes, the BJP has indulged in hate politics and irregularities in the distribution of food kits to the poor. People, donors and organizations, in response to the request of the government, have donated crores of rupees to the COVID-19 relief fund. The food items provided by the donors were re-packed in the BJP office by pasting BJP party posters to project them as kits of the BJP and Modi. The food kits, instead of being given to the poor people through the officials, were given through BJP workers at their own whims and fancies. All this has happened because of the silence of the district administration. We demand detailed investigation of these things, and suspension of officials at fault," he said in a statement.
