Bangalore: Yeddy Ridicules Deve Gowda for Day-dreaming

Bangalore, Jan 6: State Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, lampooned former Prime Minister and JDS national president, Deve Gowda, for day-dreaming about the collapse of the state government headed by the BJP.

Noting that the JDS has joined hands with the Congress Party in putting in herculean efforts to unseat his regime, Yeddyurappa suggested to the former premier to instead, channel these efforts towards the development of the state. “No one can oust me and my government as far as the people and legislators back me,” he declared.

He questioned Deve Gowda’s commitment to the welfare of the farmers. “When the BJP-JDS government was ruling the state, Deve Gowda had stoutly opposed the proposal put forth by me for waiving of farm loans and providing loans to farmers at concessional rates of interest. Now he is trying to project himself as a champion of the agriculturists by demanding loan waiver,” he charged.

He challenged Deve Gowda to lead a delegation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, seeking the union government’s help for the state government to waive farm loans, promising that he would be a part of such a delegation. “I want both the Congress and JDS to join hands with the government on this issue,” he claimed.
