Chikkaballapur, May 8: In an incident which happened in Anemadugu village of Sidlaghatta taluk in the district, a man hacked his younger brother's wife to death with a machete on Thursday, May 7.

The woman who lost her life in this macabre incident happens to be Jyothi (26), a resident of Anemadugu village. Harish Babu (40), her brother-in-law, committed this murder. Jyothi, who was happy after the baby shower celebration was held by the family, has lost her life.

Jyothi, her husband, parents-in-law and Harish Babu used to live together in a single house. Jyothi's husband had left to escort his mother back home from Chintamani. On that occasion, Jyothi was alone at home. Harish reportedly started a quarrel with Jyothi, accusing her of not washing his clothes properly and not taking proper care of him. This gave rise to the exchange of heated words. Harish got angry and hit Jyothi's head hard with a machete, locked the house, and went missing.

Jyothi's mother, who also lives in the same village, had come to see her daughter. She saw Jyothi writhing in a pool of blood. Immediately arrangements were made to take her to the district government hospital at Chikkaballapur but by then Jyothi was no more.

A case in this connection was registered at the Dibburhalli police station. The police have since taken Harish Babu in custody and are interrogating him.
