Kasargod: Private Buse Operators Withdraw Stir

Daijiworld Media Network – Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Jan 8: The three day-old strike of the private bus operators of Kerala has been withdrawn. The operators had taken up indefinite strike, demanding revision of fares and fares for holders of bus passes as also extension of pass facility to government buses.

A decision to call off the stir was taken after the representatives of the striking bus operators had a prolonged discussion with Kerala Chief Minster, V S Achutanandan. The representatives said that the Chief Minister had promised to consider their demands.

A division bench of the state High Court, which had taken up public interest litigation against the stir, had advised the government to consider fulfilling the demands of the agitating bus owners, only after they withdraw their stir.
