Karkala, May 9: A man who arrived at Someshwar check post on Thursday night without being armed with any pass, stood his ground till Friday evening, refusing to go back. He was forced to retreat after people mobbed him and forced him to leave.

The man, Raghavendra, claimed himself to be BJP state secretary and resident of Bengaluru. He was bound for his village near Beloor in Kundapur taluk via Shivamogga and Agumbe by a car. He reached the check post at around 11 pm on Thursday. After the officials refused him permission to proceed further without any pass, he claimed that the officials are ignorant about his position, and once they come to know what he is, they would voluntarily send him away. He even made calls to the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police.

As the officials did not receive any specific instructions his effort came to a naught. Even after Karkala police circle inspector Sampath Kumar, tried to convince him, he refused to budge and camped there for nearly a day.

Karkala police circle inspector Sampath Kumar, said that the person who tried to enter the district without a valid post was questioned at Someshwar. As he behaved in an unacceptable manner, a case is registered against him, he added.
