Mangaluru: Young photographer drowns in Maravoor dam

Mangaluru, May 10: In a tragic incident that occurred on Saturday, May 9, Kaushik (22), who was working as a photographer and videographer at Diya studio of Kavoor in the city, died due to drowning at Phalguni river at Maravoor near here.

Kaushik is the son of Sunita and late Sadashiva Poojary of Palanikatte, Kavoor. He had gone to pick cockles from Maravoor dam on the afternoon of Saturday, along with four of his friends. He accidentally drowned in water. When his friends cried for help, a local tried to rescue Kaushik but could not save him. Later the dead body was brought out of water.

It is said that there is a deep pit inside the water where Kaushik drowned and also there was a strong current in the water at that spot.

Kaushik had lost his father in his childhood. He was the only son and was a support to his mother. After first PUC, he dropped out of college and began work as a videographer and a photographer. He had the ambition of excelling in photography as per the information provided by his friends.

A case in this regard is registered in Kavoor police station.
