Bengaluru, May 11: The cybercrime police here have arrested a JD(S) worker who has been accused of photoshopping pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and state chief minister B S Yediyurappa besides some other leaders and posting them on social media accompanied by obscene, disparaging posts.

The arrested man happens to be Charan Gowda, resident of Laxmipura located within Dasarahalli assembly constituency. Former MLA S Muniraju and some BJP workers had filed separate complaints against him.

The police, based on the complaint, investigated the issue and arrested the accused. On being produced in the court, the court ordered him to be put through COVID-19 test, a police officer stated.

It is said that Charan used to paste faces of BJP leaders to the bodies of some others to project them in an obscene way and was in the habit of posting them on Facebook pages under fake names accompanied by false allegations. Former MLA Muniraju said that he and others had complained against the accused as he had posted false information about him and projected it in a shabby manner.
