Beltangady, Jan 26: “The coming budget proposals will have a declaration about providing Rs 28 crore annually to temples by way of fixed annual allowances,” revealed muzrai and home minister, Dr V S Acharya. He was speaking after dedicating the newly built chariot of Nala Goddess Durgaparameshwari Temple in the taluk to the Goddess, at a religious meeting organized on the occasion.

Temples under the management of Muzari department, like Kukke subramanya and Kollur generate crores of rupees income to the government. So it is responsibility of the government to spend the money for the up keeping of the temples. Same is not the case with Churches and Mosques.

This is least expected from a the elected government. The government has to spend the tax payers money for the betterment of the entire society by spending the monies on infrastructure, education and healthcare and not by spending money on the temples. I feel ashamed myself for the pitty state of afairs where temples has to get the assistance from the government.
