7-day institutional quarantine must for Maharashtra returnees in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Jun 15: The Karnataka government has issued revised regulations for the movement of persons from other states to Karnataka. The new rules formulated under the directions of the Disaster Management Act and The Epidemic Diseases Act were issued on Monday, June 15.
 
The state government has been taking various steps and measures to curb the increasing numbers of coronavirus cases. Since the Centre began providing relaxations, the mobility of people from state to state has increased and reportedly caused a surge in coronavirus cases.
 
 
Revised quarantine norms: 
 
1. Persons coming from Maharashtra shall be placed under 7-day institutional quarantine followed by 7-day home quarantine.
 
2. Persons coming from Delhi or Tamil Nadu shall be placed in 3-day institutional quarantine followed by 11-day home quarantine.
 
3. Persons coming from states other than Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu shall be placed in 14-day home quarantine.
 
4. The other quarantine norms including those for business travellers, transit travellers and special category travellers shall be in accordance with the protocol issued by Health and Family Welfare department vide document number SOP4/IST/2 dated 08.06.2020, which is annexed to this order.
 
Registration to Seva Sindhu portal, the revised regulation states:
 
1. The registration on Seva Sindhu portal is mandatory for all persons coming in or transiting through Karnataka by providing the correct information about their contact number and destination address.
 
2. All transport companies such as airlines, railways and, road transport companies are required to ensure that their passengers have done their registration on Seva Sindhu portal for the relevant mode of transport before boarding the flight, train or bus.
 
3. Any violation of the quarantine norms or failure to register on Seva Sindhu portal or giving of incorrect information by the incoming persons or carrying of passengers by the transport companies without registration on the portal shall attract penal action as per section 51 (b) of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
