Bengaluru, Jun 20: Karnataka aims to double its Gross State Domestic Produce (GSDP) from the present US $ 230 billion to US $ 500 billion in the next six years.

With the close cooperation of the industry with the State Government, the efforts to usher in a New Karnataka will be successful, said Deputy Chief Minister Dr C N Aswath Narayan in Bengaluru on Saturday.

He was addressing Industry leaders on a webinar on "Nava Karnataka: Post Covid 19 Economy Rebuild - framework and strategies to strengthen the economy’’ organised by the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).

“There is a need to rebuild Karnataka by strengthening the economy and industry. The government will stand with industry and create a conducive atmosphere to ensure overall growth,'' Dr Narayan said.

He said there is an open atmosphere for investment in Karnataka.

“We are also fine if someone informs the government after making an investment here. We are here to provide all the infrastructure required to rebuild the State,'' he said.

COVID 19 has adversely affected the State. It has brought several changes in social, industrial, economical, he said urging the industry to cooperate to overcome the crisis.

True to the aspirations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr Narayan said the State Government too believed in "Minimum governance and Maximum administration."

“Our aim is to give impetuous to of agriculture, manufacturing and service sectors. Keeping this in mind the government is open for investments by swiftly clearing proposals and giving clearances,'' Dr Narayan said.

He said the State government headed by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa is giving stress on creating an industry-friendly administration by making amendments to the APMC Act by ending the government monopoly.

With the amendment, corporate sectors can directly purchase agriculture produce from farmers, he said adding that the government was providing all the help for farmers including the supply of seeds, fertilisers, creating awareness on crops, and bringing scientific techniques to agri sector.

“There is no other State like Karnataka in the country. Whether it is investments in IT or any other sector, the government is making all-out efforts to ensure ease of business,’’ he said while appreciating the industry making a Herculean effort to revive the economy by braving the COVID 19 pandemic.

The State Government is giving stress on the garment sector which generates a large number of employment, Dr Narayan said that the government will extend additional incentives if garment units are established in rural parts of the State.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr C N Aswath Narayan has not mentioned the exact year to start count his six year plan. The ground reality won't be based on astrology.

Now it is tedious task for BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra to count real number of 'Zero's' who got discharged from hospital after June 2 was suppose to appear against the FIR in Chhattisgarh.

Covid has shown us how little the govt can do for the people. We need industrialisation and Bangalore IT success is despite the govt and not because of it. Time the outlook changed. Focus on agriculture is a backward step.

We are used listening to big announcements with big numbers from your big brother in Delhi. But India's GDP, employment numbers, businesses and exports are declining considerably. BTW, when will industries, factories, business will, open from lock down??????... You have no money to take care of migrant workers, farmer, flood victims and salary to govt employees then where do you get money for investments and no one is coming forward to invest including FDI. So stop fooling people and fake promises. Nothing good is going to happen bad for sure.
