Bengaluru: 'Avail leave, forgo salary' - KSRTC offer to employees

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 27: Even as the transport minister has claimed that all the employees of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) would be paid full salaries due to them, it is said that pressure is being mounted on the corporation employees to avail leave without pay.

A circular issued by the manager of KSRTC Ramanagara depot, says that driving and technical staff can apply for leave during July and August. But this leave will be treated as one without pay. So employees responding to this circular and opting for leave will not get salaries for the period of leave.

Employees agreeing to this condition have been asked to send their leave letters before June 30.

Including weekly off, each of the employees is eligible for about 120 days leave every year. If the employees exhaust all this leave and avail of more, their pay gets deducted. But Ramanagara depot officials have asked the employees to take leave without pay instead of sanctioning them regular leave for which they are eligible. Many have claimed this to be illegal.
