Mangaluru, Jul 2: In order to improve the efficiency, disbursement of ESIC benefits and to bring transparency, the furnishing of details of mobile numbers and bank account of employees covered under the ESI Scheme to ESIC, have been made mandatory from July 1 onwards.

From July 1, cash benefits/claims will be settled only if the correct bank account details of the beneficiary are available in the ESIC portal.

In case of employees already covered, link has been provided in the employer portal to update the mobile and bank account details. While uploading bank account details, either a cancelled cheque or the first page of the bank passbook has to be uploaded.

Relaxation in time limit for filing of ESI contribution:

ESIC has relaxed provisions under Regulation-26 of ESI Regulation, 1950, whereby, the employers are now allowed to file contribution upto July 15 for the contribution period from October 2019 to March 2020.

This decision would benefit about 6,500 employers registered under the ESI Act in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
