Kundapur, Jul 7: As a precautionary measure, health checks of bus drivers and conductors attached to Kundapur depot of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) were conducted. In the reports received on Monday, July 6, three KSRTC bus drivers were confirmed to be suffering from coronavirus infection.

A 44-year-old driver who used to operate bus on Kundapur - Bengaluru route, tested positive for COVID 19. He stands admitted into the COVID hospital here. Another driver from Basrur aged 58, who was on leave on account of his age, who had not reported for duty after lockdown, is being treated at home.  and the third driver aged 36 who used to operate buses between Shivamogga and Kundapur, who is currently on a visit to his native place, Bagalkot, is being treated there.

The KSRTC sources said that the passengers need not be concerned as the driver's seat is located away from them and therefore none were in primary contact with the above drivers. Those who had primary contact with these three at other places are being quarantined.

It may be recalled that on June 30, coronavirus infection was found among two drivers of long-distance private buses who operated buses to Bengaluru from the town.
