Udupi, Jul 7: Udupi district commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha has requested the people to immediately report to the fever clinics if any symptoms of fever or cold are found and not to undertake any kind of self-medication.

The DC highlighted how effectively the district has been handling the situation so far and appealed to the citizens not to neglect any symptoms but immediately visit the fever clinics and get tested. "In our district we have handled more than 1,300 cases, but only 3 deaths were reported and the deceased had comorbidities," he said.

"As it is the rainy season, many might face cold, fever and breathing problems. In such situations do not opt for any self-medication. Visit our fever clinics immediately. If anyone is found positive they will be shifted to COVID hospital. Those not infected will be given medication for normal fever and cold," he said.

He stressed on the negligence of the people resulting in casualties. He appealed the masses to be proactive and report any kind of symptoms to the nearest fever clinics. "Many deaths are the result of negligence. If symptoms show and the person fails to bring it to the notice of the health authorities till the final stage, it will be difficult to treat the patient. We are fighting to save lives. If you find anyone in your contact with any symptoms kindly inform it to the fever clinic," he said.

He appealed to all the citizens to help the frontline workers by cooperating in this fight against coronavirus. He hailed every responsible citizen as a corona warrior. "Please cooperate with the health care workers when they visit your homes. Giving proper information will help in containing the spread of the virus. Testing and treatment is done free of cost. Most of the patients are cured under the treatment of the health care. Every citizen should fight like a warrior. No corona warrior needs felicitation at this moment. I request all the organizations to kindly postpone all their plans of felicitation of Covid warriors. Let us all together celebrate with the warriors once the intensity of the situation is relaxed" he added.
