Bantwal: Vitla based woman admitted for delivery in Mangaluru tests positive for coronavirus

Bantwal, Jul 7: A pregnant woman residing in Vitla and admitted in a hospital in Mangaluru for delivery tested positive for coronavirus. Her husband’s house in Bobbekeri, Vitla was sealed down and a close watch is being kept till a distance of 200 meters around the house.

The woman had been to her mother’s house in Deralakatte sometime back. She soon got admitted at a Mangaluru hospital as she was due. After conducting a COVID test the report received suggested that she had tested positive for the virus.

On receiving this information, the house of her husband was sealed down under the leadership of Vitla town panchayat chief officer Malini, revenue inspector Pakeera Moolya, village accountant Prakash and the health department. The shops around the house have been placed under observation.

Woman related to 21-year-old corona-positive man from Okkethur tests positive

A woman who is related to the 21-year-old infected Okkethur man also tested positive for coronavirus man on Tuesday.

The Okkethur resident youth who had returned from abroad three months ago had tested positive just a few days ago. Following which, the house of the infected resident was sealed down and the throat swabs of those in the house and those who were in contact with the family were sent for testing.

In a few days, the young man's brother, as well as his wife, tested positive for the virus. Another woman from the same family also tested positive for the virus, along with four other members of the family. The new cases from one family have caused a lot of panic among the locals.
