Mangalore, Mar 17: People in the city celebrated ‘Ugadi’, the start of the New Year as per Chandramana calendar of Hindu tradition, by performing Puja and other religious rituals on Tuesday March 16.
The members of the GSB community and Vishwakarma community in Car Street area performed Puja in various temples and also celebrated the festival by decorating their houses and performing special Puja in their homes.
The celebration started with distribution of jaggery pieces and neem leaves to friends and relatives as a symbol of the good and bad things that come in life. A special meal with various traditional and sweet dishes is a specialty of this festival.
People were seen greeting each other on the New Year. In Hinduism, followers of the Chandramana calendar celebrate this day as the New Year and those who follow Sauramana calendar consider the Sauramana Ugadi as the start of the New Year.

I like Ugadi padwa i make rangoli and sweet we start from morning we go to temple and taking bless from deva and then olderest people they give us blesses and we go to relative places.
