Udupi, Aug 20: Additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu has called upon the people to celebrate Ganesha festival in a simple manner and also follow government guidelines.
Presiding over a meeting regarding celebrations of the festival held in Dr V S Acharya auditorium on Thursday he said that devotees visiting the temples and public places should sanitize, maintain a minimum distance of six feet between each other, wear masks and undergo thermal scanning.
“Entertainment or cultural programmes, music, dances and processions while bringing or immersing the idol are not permitted. More than 20 people should not gather at a place,” he said.
DSP Vishnuvardhan said that celebrations should be within legal purview maintaining peace and harmony following government guidelines.
Sub-divisional officer Raju, district panchayat assistant secretary Kiran Padnekar, officials and office bearers of local bodies and others were present.
