Bengaluru, Aug 24: One of the persons who have been arrested in connection with the August 11 riots in DJ Halli here happens to be the brother-in-law of Church Street blast accused, the police have found. The city crime branch, which came to know of the said information as per which that Samiuddin, reportedly on contact with 'Al Hind' organization, is the brother-in-law of Afridi, named in the Church Street blast case.

The police have been finding the family details of the arrested persons, background of their ancestors, and about the relatives, after establishing the above connection. They came to know that Mohammed Javid, arrested by the CCB police now, is the brother-in-law of Afridi.

Javid, an auto rickshaw driver by profession, had married a lady who is closely connected with Afridi. Javid also had visited the prison to meet Afridi and also used to carry food for him, the sources said. The CCB police do not so far know whether these three persons had spoken with each other during the period before these disturbances. The location of mobile phones showed that Javid was there.

The police now are trying to find out whether more people are connected with the blast accused. The police hope to get information during the questioning.

In the meantime, the police said they have filed their response to the habeas corpus petition filed by Tabassum, wife of Samiuddin, urging the police to find the whereabouts of her husband. "We had served notice on Samiuddin, seeking to be present for questioning in two days after the disturbances. The husband-wifeduo misled us. No one was at home to receive the notice. As there was no response, we sent another notice. As there was no response, we concocted an operation and arrested them, the CCB police told the court.
