The record attempt by Hindustani vocalist Prasanna Madhav Gudi of Dharwad, who presented the longest concert lasting for 26 hours and 12 minutes in December 2008, has been considered as a record by the Guinness World Records Limited.

Mr. Prasanna Gudi, son of Hindustani vocalist Mahdav Gudi, told presspersons here on Thursday that he had received the certificate for the feat he completed on December 29, 2008.

An ecstatic Mr. Prasanna displayed the certificate proudly, accompanied by his family members and attributed his achievement to hard work and constant support by family members and well-wishers.
It might be recalled that on December 28, 2008, nonagenarian vocalist Gangubai Hangal had inaugurated the record attempt by Mr. Prasanna, which he had begun with a composition in Todi raga.

Prasanna had concluded his “swara mahayaag” with a composition Bhairavi raga on December 29, with the audience giving a standing ovation for his feat. As many as 12 artistes accompanied Mr. Prasanna in his attempt. In between the Todi and Bhairavi ragas, Mr. Prasanna sang compositions in various ragas including Jeevanpuri, Goudasarang, Yaman, Kalyani and Multani. Apart from these, there were songs in Kannada and Hindi, Marathi abhangs and Dasara Pada. In accordance with the rules, Mr. Prasanna took a 15-minute break every thr

Congratulations to all the Members of Karnataka Sangha,Muscat. It is really good to recognize & promote the hidden Talents of Kannadigas. But it is really sad to hear that Karnataka Sangha is restricting the members to expose their talents only within the members. And also it looks present Karnataka Sangha Office bearers become so selfish & not allowing non-member Kannadigas to watch the programme & encourage the Kannadiga's talent. Long back I was also an active member & during our time we used to organise several programme which was open to all. Coz, there is no language or state bar for talent. We should be proud that our members are performing in front of all who loves to witness the talents.

I do agree some times it is difficult to accommodate every one in some auditorium but such cases it should be first come first basis. Let the members who are really interested, come first & occupy the seats if they are so particular that they paid membership. Reservation of seats for Office bearers are foolishness, all members have the equal right all are paying the same membership fees.
I request you not to restrict like this in future, we Kannadigas are not so selfish people. And also give a chance to all the talented members to perform instead of giving multiple chances to few people. Jai Karnataka.

Dear Vijay,  You may be having a bad experience of 1990s which I think is too far back in the history. The situation may be different now, but unless you are personally involved you may not come to know. There could be a pleasant surprise waiting for you!

Dear K. Rao, Mangalore - Somewhat I do not agree with you. I have been a member of Kannada Sangha for three years in 90’s and I realized that It should have been called as Tamil Sangha instead Kannada Sangha because you hardly find people speaking in one of the sweetest language Kannada, otherwise full of Tamil or English. So what is the fun in becoming a member ! They should have kept programmes like this for ticket or open to all.

Its really wonderful to conduct such programes for in house talents. I think Mr. Srinath is not a member of the karanataka sangha, othrwise he would not have commented like this.I am very much sure that he will some how be accomadated inside the hall had he been a member. We Kannadigas must learn to pay and enjoy for example kannada news papers, magazines, membership etc. This will promote kannada writers and artistes.
