Madikeri: Poachers kill tiger, flee with legs

Madikeri, Aug 28: In an heinous act, poachers killed a tiger inside Kallahalla forest area which falls under Nagarahole National Park limit on Kodagu - Hunsur forest range border. The forest officials have arrested one person and are hunting for others involved with the crime.

The arrested man happens to be Santhosh. The others, H Ranju, K Shashi and K Sharanu have escaped. The tiger was fired at and killed at night. For claws, all the four legs of the tiger were cut and taken away.

'Rana', a sniffer dog of the canine squad of the forest department, succeeded in finding out the residences of all the four accused. The officials found deer flesh inside the residence of Santhosh. The officials who took Santhosh into custody handed him over to the police. Even though the others ran away, four tiger legs hidden in their houses and bullets of the gun were found.
