Bengaluru: ACB officials conduct raids - Recover assets including 3.5 kg gold

Bengaluru, Aug 29: During the raids conducted by the officials of the Anti Corruption Bureau in the city and Mysuru, large quantities of assets and property were recovered which included 3.5 kg gold and 15 kg of silver valuables.

The searches included the residence of M S Niranjan Babu, former deputy secretary of Bengaluru Development/authority, who was under orders of transfer as the secretary of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board. The official, who has been accused of amassing wealth disproportionate to known sources of income, reportedly has his own house at Maruti Nagar Tumakuru, five more houses in different areas in Tumakuru district, eight sites, and a site in Kundana revenue division of Devanahalli taluk. The officials recovered 1.5 kg gold ornaments, 3.5 kg silver items, two cars, a two-wheeler and five lac rupees in cash from his home. He also has deposits of Rs 20 lac in different banks in addition to household items worth Rs 54 lac, it is learnt.

H Nagaraj, development officer of Mysuru city corporation, has two residential houses in Mysuru, a five-storied commercial complex in Mysuru, a flat at Binnipet Bengaluru, a site in Bengaluru, and four more sites in Mysuru. He was found to own two kg gold, 11.5 kg silver valuables, two cars, four two-wheelers, nine lac rupees in cash and household items worth Rs 22 lac.
