Mumbai, Aug 15: Bollywood actor Govinda has criticised his wife Sunita Ahuja over her alleged repeated use of abusive language, particularly references involving mothers and sisters, and urged her to stop.

In a video, Govinda addressed Sunita and said she had recently been "using a lot of abuses over mother and sister", asking her to refrain from such language.

He said public figures have a responsibility to set an example for youngsters, who may be influenced by their behaviour.

"Youngsters expect you to behave in a way that they will follow it. So, if people start abusing your mother and sister, then we will all be very embarrassed. Don't do this," Govinda said.

The veteran actor also said that repeated use of such language had cheapened the words "mother" and "sister", describing them as "sasta", and added that such behaviour was not expected from Sunita.

Govinda's remarks come amid renewed attention on the couple's personal life and Sunita's candid comments about their marriage.

In recent months, Sunita has spoken openly about Govinda's alleged affairs and their relationship. She had earlier said that she tolerated difficult phases in their marriage because she loved her husband.

The latest controversy intensified after Govinda was recently spotted at an airport with newcomer actress Komal Rani Swarnkar, who has been linked to him amid relationship rumours.

Sunita subsequently took a dig at Govinda, calling him a "sugar daddy" while commenting on his reported association with Komal and their upcoming film Roopa.

She suggested that Komal should groom herself and dress properly, given that her alleged "sugar daddy" was wealthy.

"Beti ki umar ki ladki lekar ghoom raha hai, shame on him," Sunita had said, accusing Govinda of being seen with a girl of his daughter's age.

When photographers asked Sunita about Govinda promoting Roopa with Komal, she reportedly responded, "First of all, the movie should be made. Promotion happens after the movie is complete."

Sunita, who was last seen on the reality show Lock Upp, had also been seen using abusive language casually in conversations with fellow housemates, particularly while discussing matters related to Govinda.
