Udupi, Aug 31: “The gram panchayat elections that are postponed to maintain effective social distance due to COVID-19 are likely to be held in November-December this year. Party workers should consider them as a challenge and target for victory,” said minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.

He was speaking in a meeting presided over by BJP district president Kuyilady Suresh Nayak in district BJP office on August 31.

“COVID-19 treatment is completely free in registered government and private hospitals under Ayushman Bharath Scheme. Unfounded allegations relating to coronavirus are being heard these days. It is necessary to hold meetings with Corona Warriors from time to time at gram panchayat level, taluk panchayat level and district panchayat level and look for quick relief measures,” he said.

Kuyilady Suresh Nayak said that the state government pays Rs 10,000 per day as bed charge and ventilator charge for COVID patients. “Make sure that the Corona Warriors and doctors continue to remain motivated,” he said.

Coastal Development Authority president Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, district panchayat president Dinakar Babu, district panchayat vice president Sheela K Shetty, BJP district office bearers, morcha – mandala presidents and chief secretaries were present. BJP district chief secretary Manohar S Kalmady welcomed the gathering and Kuthyar Navin Shetty compered the programme and rendered the vote of thanks.
