Kundapur, Sep 18: State minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said that permission was received to form management committees for 84 temples in the state including Kollur temple. Details of those who have applied for the posts in the Kollur temple committee are being gathered. The project of providing drinking water for the temples and the villages at a cost of Rs 33 crore will be handed over to the gram panchayat after scrutiny, Kota said.

Speaking in a progress review meeting held in Kollur temple on Friday, September 18, he said that the drainage works in Kollur are being set right, project report for Areshiroor helipad has been prepared and basic facilities are being provided for cattle in the temple. There are 100 cattle at present. Orphaned cattle are being looked after here, he maintained.

He asked officials to prepare a master plan for Kollur for the next 50 years and present it in the next meeting.

The meeting also discussed the maintenance of drainage. “The temple should not lose money. If all the money is released to temples for adoption, those do not become public temples. Therefore, only Rs 50 lac will be released. A circular will be released in this connection,” he said to officials.

Temple management officer, Kundapur assistant commissioner K Raju, Byndoor taluk panchayat president Mahendra Poojary, temple executive officer Arvind Sutthugundi, officers Pradeep, Ramakrishna Adiga and others were present.

Yakshagana artistes meanwhile also placed a request to form Yakshagana mela under the leadership of Kodi Vishwanath.
