Mangalore: Power Generation in State Slumps – Summer Becoming Unbearable

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Apr 8: Increasing temperature, increasing incidence of load shedding, rising prices of commodities etc., have been turning the summer months into a conundrum of untold miseries for the people of the coast. At the same time, the prices of fruits and other things the people use to get relief from scorching heat have gone up, turning further heat on the people.

On an average, the coast recorded a temperature of 35 to 36 degree Celsius on Wednesday. Because of hot air and sweating, the people are made to believe that the temperature hovers around 40 degree Celsius. The students, who are appearing for the ongoing SSLC examinations, are the worst hit, as power plays spoilsport with their plans of reading, because of unscheduled power cuts.

Heaping further woes on the government, two units of Raichur Thermal Power Station have suspended power generation. As such, the power production from this station has dwindled from 35 million units to 22 million units. It is also said that the thermal power units are suffering from shortage of coal.
