MCD Collects Highest-Ever Property Tax in 2009-10


New Delhi, Apr 9 (IANS): The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has recorded its highest ever collection of property tax in the financial year 2009-10.

MCD collected Rs.696 crore in property tax in the fiscal, an increase of Rs.90 crore over the previous year, according to a statement by the MCD Thursday.

The number of tax payers also increased by 1.10 lakh - from 8.63 lakh in 2008-2009 to 9.73 lakh in the fiscal 2009-10.

Out of the total tax payers, 39 percent used the online option of paying property tax.
