Udupi, Oct 7: Peer groups and like-minded persons of Udupi staged a protest condemning the rape and murder of Dalit girl at Hathras by covering their faces with black cloth. The protest was held at Martyrs Memorial, Ajjarkad here on Wednesday, October 7.

Speaking on the issue, Ansar Ahmed said, "Rape cases are increasing day by day in India. What happened at Hathras was an inhumane incident. India always keeps its head up when it comes to progress, however, India bows its head down when it comes to rising crimes against women. The Centre has to take it seriously and need to take strict action against the accused. The BJP led government has implemented schemes to encourage women and yet on the other side, there are so many crimes happening against women. It is a shame for us as Indians to see so many such crimes of this nature. This should not be repeated”.

Sudhir Poojary, Sayyad Nizamuddhin, Nasir Yakub, Hamad, Hameer Padubidri and were present.
