Udupi, Oct 10: “The department of posts issues a special postal cover to its customers to remember a special person or to explain the specialty of a place,” said Mangaluru postal division senior postal superintendent Harsha N. He released a special post cover in Pandeshwar post office to commemorate the birth anniversary of Udupi MGM College professor of Physics, philosopher and thinker late Professor Udupi Laxminarayana Acharya.

He said that work such as this becomes a guide for the future generation. A lamp was lit in front of the portrait of Acharya. Dr Nandini Shivanand the artist of the cover welcomed. Elder son of Acharya, U Raghavendracharya gave a description of the late Acharya. Chief guest Padmabhooshan B M Hedge who remained absent due to Covid shared his opinion. Senior postmaster K Subraya Pai was present. Special cover designer Dr Poornima Nayar and NITK Surathkal professor Srikrishna Bhat paid homage. Daughter Jayanti Rao shared her opinion over the video. Younger son Haridas Acharya rendered a vote of thanks. Mangaluru postal department staff Seema and Jayalaxmi cooperated.
